Research has shown that posture can have a dramatic effect on many different aspects of health. Improper spinal alignment decreases the brain’s ability to communicate with the rest of the body, impacting a variety of bodily functions including breathing, sleep, and heart health. Simply put it has been shown the worse your posture is the more common it is to have back and neck pain. The curves in your spine act as levers, shock absorbers, and resistance to gravity, protecting the spinal cord and nerve tissues. Gravity, age, poor posture, improper physical activity, injury, and poor ergonomics all play a role in the misalignment of your spinal curvature. Poor posture can cause pinched nerves, compress internal organs, decreased lung capacity, loss of shoulder motion, depression and can even affect life expectancy.
